One word Dogs. Synonym – the little friend of your beloved female, who gives you love, affection, comfort, joy and a thousand other beautiful feelings expressed in words, and always a faithful companion.

There is nothing that makes you happier than coming home after a hard day’s work and knowing that your little buddy is eagerly waiting for you, that he wants you to be there, that he will shower you with soft licks and kisses, and that he will get his share of hugs from the man he loves. The love, care and bond between dog and owner are indefinable. The relationship between dog and owner affects the lives of both. When a dog feels safe, wanted and loved by a loved one, the owner feels comforted, encouraged and reassured. In short, owners love their pets and vice versa.

If you ask a dog owner what they love about being a proud dog parent, they will tell you an endless list of things they get to do with their new companion, good things they always experience and bad things that can always happen. Dog owners know how beneficial it is to have a dog as a pet, from keeping him physically active with regular exercise and walks to establishing a loyal and faithful relationship with him. But in some cases, when an individual does not have adequate presence of mind and is experiencing emotional states, the presence of their dogs is essential for them to function properly. Companion animals can help reduce anxiety and stress and provide emotional support to their owners in coping with the challenges of everyday life. These animals are called emotional support animals.

What are emotional support dogs?

The emotional bond between dogs and their owners cannot be expressed in words. Although all dogs, regardless of breed, provide emotional support to their owners, your pet must be legally certified as an emotional support dog by a psychologist, psychiatrist or therapist.

Emotional support dogs provide comfort, affection and warmth through their companionship and can help relieve people with existing anxiety and panic disorders. These dogs can be of any type, breed or size. They will all do the job for their owners, whatever their physical characteristics.

You may be thinking, “Isn’t that the job of service dogs? What distinguishes European assistance dogs from service or therapy dogs?”

Service dogs and ESAs are very different because service dogs are specially trained to perform tasks for people with physical disabilities and, by law, can accompany them almost everywhere; ESAs do not have the same adaptations as service dogs. Emotional support dogs are not trained to perform the same tasks as psychiatric service dogs or therapy dogs. Their role is to provide comfort and emotional support to people with mental health issues.

Emotional support dog registration

Many dog owners may mistakenly think that they have to register their Dog vs Emotional Support Dog because then they can enjoy all the legal rights associated with owning an emotional support dog. However, the pattern for “registering” their dogs as ESAs is very different.

ESAs are not registered or certified. The companies and websites selling these registration ideas are scammers and only want to collect your money. Don’t be fooled.

All you need is a letter from ESA psychologists to have your dogs officially become emotional support dogs or often companion dogs.
